Sandia Frontier Town and Camp Resort Opens to Visitors
An Italian American Brooklyn family led by Mario DiGesa builds Sandia Frontier Town in Cedar Crest on the east slope of the Sandia Mountains. The weekend retreat includes an Old West town with saloon, stage lines, blacksmith, country store and a Yogi Bear Jellystone Camp resort with 100 trailer sites, 50 tents, pool, rodeo arena, lodging, and guided outdoor activities. Mario, Kay, and their children run businesses, plan churches and theatres, and expect to open soon. Public access via I-40 to State Road 14.
