Satellite Aids Fire Fighting In California Forest Study
A new three dimension fire index system uses sensing instruments, the ERTS satellite, and a NASA data box to track wind, temperature, humidity, and fuel moisture. Readings are sent twice daily to a Sacramento center for processing, aiding fire crews and potentially extending to pollution monitoring.
