Local man turns recycled cans into model airplanes
Rio Rancho artist Rob Morton crafts dioramas from beer and soda cans, dedicating 30 to 50 hours per plane. Since 2008 he has sold pieces nationwide, with planes displayed at Rio Rancho Meats and Walgreens and a space shuttle built from Budweiser cans his latest self designed project. Morton funds his hobby while seeking new income after a 21 year aviation career ended by unemployment.
