Curtis appointed to District 21 state Senate seat

The Rio Rancho Observer reports Lisa Curtis will represent District 21 in the state Senate starting Jan 17 for the 30 day session. Curtis is a Democrat, an Albuquerque attorney, and president of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. The governor faced party line pressure from Sandoval and Bernalillo County commissions who nominated Curtis with no other nominees. Curtis says she met with Gov Martinez and aims to hit the ground running, while noting NM’s beauty and dysfunction and the need for better public schools to produce educated workers. Curtis faces reelection prospects later in 2012 in a district that tends to vote Republican.
