Tourism summit set for Jan 10 in Rio Rancho
The Sandoval County Regional Tourism Association will host its second annual summit on January 10 at The Inn at Rio Rancho. About 150 business leaders, officials and agency representatives will discuss tourism development for 2000, with panels, planning sessions and reports. Holiday sales mix at area stores as season closes
Area merchants report mixed holiday results with some stores posting strong December sales above 1994 levels while others lagged. Kmart Rio Rancho saw high decorations and toy sales and added staff. Wal-Mart West Side also beat last year. Bernalillo Jackalope and Corrales New Mexico Pet and Vet Supply opened recently and saw solid starts.

School district buys easements for city
Rio Rancho Public Schools purchased the easements and rights of way along the roads to the city’s first high school. City project engineer Vance Fossinger said the district was already condemning land and buying the easements sped up the process. The city will reimburse the district for much of the land costs after purchases are complete.
