Gang presence reported in Taylor Ranch

Albuquerque police Lieutenant Paul Chavez reports multiple gangs show presence in Taylor Ranch but no territorial control. Over 200 gang members exist with activity focused on property crime and tagging by crews PSK and PHOK. Schools such as Cibola LBJ and Cottonwood Mall noted as lower risk and zero tolerance helps deter gang influence.

State outlines grad requirements and district control

A New Mexico official explained at a Rio Rancho session that state benchmarks set minimum standards while individual districts may adopt higher curriculums. Third, fifth, and eighth grade tests plus a state writing exam are required, yet performance levels remain district responsibility. Gateway North project gains pace in Rio Rancho site

AMREP Southwest vice president Mark Lautman says Gateway North on NM 528 between Sara Road and 19th Avenue is finally moving after years of idle land. Foundations rise for Village Inn Schlotzsky’s and Sun River Office Complex while the Sandia Area Federal Credit Union and First State Bank facilities proceed. AMREP plans include a hotel and restaurant allocation, with earlier slow sales misperceived by some staff.

Bikes piling up at Rio Rancho DPS garage sale planned

The Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety reports more than 100 unclaimed bikes in various brands and conditions. Owners may claim by providing serial numbers or distinguishing marks. unclaimed bikes will be sold at auction after January 10.
