DWI penalty bill dies in House committee in New Mexico

Rio Rancho Rep. Tim Lewis saw HB 108 fail in the House Appropriations Committee. The bill would have toughened penalties for repeat DWI offenses, raising prison terms from a fourth conviction to 30 months and adding harsher terms through an eighth offense. Lewis cited 11 January alcohol related deaths as justification for tougher roads safety measures.

The New Mexico film and media industry history is explored in Made in New Mexico, an hour long documentary by David Jean Schweitzer and Brent Morris. It premieres in February and will be shown free of charge on February 28 at 7 p.m. at Premiere Cinemas in Rio Rancho.
