Rio Rancho approves Mountainview retirement center plan
The Rio Rancho City Council unanimously backs a 222-unit retirement complex on 18 acres next to Meadowlark Center. Mountainview seeks up to 25 million in tax exempt bonds for a 275,000 square foot project with six villas and two four story buildings. At least 20 percent of units must house low income tenants, with terms lasting 15 years after 50 percent occupancy. Construction could start within six months, finishing 18 months later. The council also begins first reading of an ordinance lowering intoxication thresholds for drivers.
