Rio Rancho Utilities Corp filed July 16 1993 with the New Mexico Public Service Commission seeking average rate increases of 14.3 percent for water and 25.6 percent for sewer services. If approved, residential water bills would rise about six dollars monthly and sewer bills about seven dollars. The PSC has up to ten months to decide. The city council moved to acquire RRUC and instructed staff to prepare a request for proposals for a feasibility study of an RRUC purchase.
