Save Winter Energy With Quick Window Checks

New Mexico Energy Institute at UNM says small steps save heat this winter. Inspect cracks around window frames and sashes, seal with caulk or weatherstripping, and avoid sealing moving parts. Double glazing and storm windows reduce heat loss, while polyethylene sheeting offers a cheap retrofit option. When not in use, store or reuse coverings. Draperies or insulated panels at night further cut energy use.
