Rio Rancho Offices Close For Christmas Holiday

City of Rio Rancho portals and facilities shut Tuesday December 24 and Wednesday December 25 for Christmas. Recycling Center near Sandoval Landfill will close Saturday December 28. Landfill hours are Saturdays 8 AM to 1 PM. County offices schedule holiday closings and a January 16 board meeting to adopt proposed regulations at 4 PM in Bernalillo. Corrales Society to stage Las Posadas at Old San Ysidro Church

Santa makes a visit to Rio Rancho court for Christmas gifts

Santa Claus visited the Rio Rancho Municipal Courtroom on Sunday morning aiding 14 families. Rio Rancho Police Department volunteers gathered cash and toy donations to deliver gifts and time to chat with Santa, assisted by elf Rachel Pellegrini with green hair.

Rumble in Rio Gives Out 128 Bicycles to Kids

Rumble in Rio, a charitable group, distributed 128 free bicycles with helmets at Santa Ana Star Center part of the Jim Franklin Bike Giveaway. Most bikes stay in the metro area with some allocated to Santa Fe Valencia County Jemez Springs and community partners Amigos Y Amigos Haven House and the Fraternal Order of Police. The event also featured 24 uniformed emergency personnel participants from across New Mexico and honored the family of fallen Sandoval County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Baron as Colter Baron, his 10 year old son, was set to receive a bike.

Teacher disciplined over Santa comment at Cleveland High

Aaron Badagher, a first year Cleveland High School teacher, apologized after telling a Black student that Santa Claus is white. Rio Rancho Public Schools Superintendent Sue Cleveland described him as young and contrite, noting the remarks do not reflect district views and that he self-reported the incident.

Patriotic Christmas Parade Hits Rio Rancho Winterfest Route

About 50 parade entries gathered near the Hewlett Packard building and moved through a lit route past City Hall to Santa Ana Star Center. The float lineup celebrated "A Star Spangled Christmas A Tribute to the Troops" and ended with a fireworks display.
