New Mexico bans sulfites in food service
State Environmental Improvement Board approved amendments for a total ban on sulfites in food service establishments. The ban, announced by EID Director Denise Fort, passed unanimously at the 4 November meeting and took effect 14 December. Sulfites are preservatives used in fruits and vegetables to prevent discoloration and boost crispness.
