Winter weather arrived briefly in Rio Rancho with snow on the West Side. Four year old Brandon Howden and his dad Stephen spent Tuesday morning sledding at Vista Hills Park while Puesta del Sol Elementary fifth graders Tara Burns and Shelby Valdez built a snowman on campus during recess. Enchanted Hills park plan unveiled
The Rio Rancho City Council heard plans for a new park in the Enchanted Hills subdivision from University of New Mexico engineering students. Parks director Ed Chismar said the UNM partnership, started in 1999, saves the city substantial funds and continues to grow.

Woman indicted for attempted abduction in Rio Rancho
A Sandoval County grand jury indicted Sherry Fetterhoff of Rio Rancho on three counts battery custodial interference and child abuse after she allegedly tried to snatch a 5 year old girl from her home on Blue Quail Road near Blue Quail Court. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on November 8 as the girl played in the yard and the father confronted the suspect. The man watched from inside the home through a window when the event unfolded.

Watermelon Mountain Ranch Wins County OK for Shelter Plan
Mountain Ranch County Commission unanimously approves Watermelon Mountain Ranch proposal to build a 60 acre complex north of Rio Rancho including a shelter, a 4H learning center, a therapeutic riding center, and a petting farm. Twinkle Light Parade highlights Rio Rancho weekend
The Twinkle Light Parade on Saturday features a patriotic theme and an old fashioned calliope with Santa and Mrs. Claus as stars.
