Rio Rancho Library Sale and Corrales Craft Event December 9

This week lists a Friends of the Library Rio Rancho book sale on Saturday December 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 950 Pinetree Road. Corrales Community Library hosts a scented braided paper wreath craft with Suzanne Gurule at 10 30 a.m. also on December 9. call 897 0733. Vista Verde Memorial Park and the Sunrise Society host a Celebration of Life Remembrance Ceremony on December 13 at 6 30 p.m. with an ornament memory project and a remembrance tree on display until January 6. call 892 9920 this week.

Observer to deliver letters to Santa Claus

Children may send Christmas letters to The Observer to be forwarded to Santa Claus. Artwork is encouraged and a sample will be printed in the December 20 issue. Mail to Letters to Santa The Observer P O Box 15878 Rio Rancho NM 87174 or drop at 1594 Sara Road in Santa's mailbox. Submissions due by 5 p.m. Thursday December 14.

Window Shopping Christmas Window Decorating Contest Winners

Ginger Hunter and the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors judged the Southern Plaza contest Friday evening. Seven merchants decorated windows for a $50 prize. Consignment Decor won first place. honorable mentions went to Nail It To You and Martin Cleaners. Observer-Tharinger photo.

Jingle Bell Balloon Rally Lights Up New Mexico Night

The Jingle Bell Rally adds a new twist to a holiday tradition with Bal lumina lighting the sky Saturday night. About 50 balloons will lift at 7 am from Rio Rancho Balloon Park along with morning live entertainment. Balluminarias start at sunset with roughly 20 balloonists. Weather may delay launches. if so, events move to Sunday. Parking and shuttles are provided. admission is free.
