City narrows builder choice for Unit 13 redevelopment

City officials finished evaluating four redevelopment proposals for Unit 13 along Northern Boulevard with Pulte Homes as a potential builder. City administrator Jim Palenick said staff gathered thoughts from five staffers, aiming to present a final recommendation before the Dec. 8 meeting.

Snow slows traffic as Rio Rancho officer directs on icy NM 528

Rio Rancho Public Safety officer Chris Pino directed southbound traffic on NM 528 West on Westside Boulevard as snow blanketed the area. Northbound lanes opened first while officers logged frequent fender-bender accidents with minor injuries during the Monday storm.

Expo showcases 600 projects at Rio Rancho High Sr SRE

Rio Rancho High School hosts the Fall Senior Student Research Expo today in the RRHS gym from noon to 2 pm. More than 600 projects across eight categories are reviewed by a Scientific Review Committee. Top projects win shares of up to 8000 dollars and advance to regional and national fairs.

Man Arrested in Local Stabbing and Robbery Case

Rio Rancho police report an 18-year-old man Christopher Madigan was arrested after stabbing a 61-year-old clerk at Allsups on NM 528 during an armed robbery attempt. The suspect, identified by witnesses, fled the scene with a 30 count beer carton and was later charged with multiple offenses. Two others at the scene were charged with marijuana possession. A separate fraud case involved Gerald Fierro attempting to cash a stolen check at New Mexico Educators Credit Union.
