APS tests year round schooling as a way to prevent learning loss between terms and to enable enhanced remediation and enrichment. APS gets state help for overcrowding in Albuquerque

The state donated three portable buildings to Albuquerque Public Schools to house Jemez District students living up to 40 miles away. APS also voted 4-1 to sign a one year transport deal with Jemez Springs for busing students to Rio Rancho and Coralles schools, a plan likely not repeated due to district strain. Projections show student numbers could double or triple. portables may serve as backups and only temporary relief.
