Rio Rancho officials debate amending an ordinance to cut the municipal event center surcharge on Star Center food and beverage sales to match the 7.4 percent gross receipts tax. The measure targets Pizza 9 and Ovations Food Services amid competition impacts.
On the first day of school at Enchanted Hills Elementary in Rio Rancho principal Athy Baehr guided kindergarten and first grade parents in with red and blue cards instructing drop-off lanes. She was briefly hit by a parent in a yellow poncho and noted most parents are cooperative, with some tears from students.
