Rio Rancho sets bulk water rate at 10 dollars per 1000 gallons
The Rio Rancho governing body approved a bulk-fill water station on 21st Street and Northern Boulevard charging 10 dollars per 1000 gallons. The station, outside city limits, accepts pre paid city debit cards for potable water. Public Works Director Scott Sensanbaugher notes contractors and unincorporated Sandoval County residents without water lines may use the service. City staff compared rates with nearby cities to deem 10 dollars fair.

Grapplefest Test of grit in Santa Ana CrossFit contest
At Grapplefest held last Saturday at Santa Ana Star Center, a two person CrossFit team event tested competitors in stages of power clean, rope skipping, jump box, kettlebell lifts and burpee push ups. Anna Langdon 29 an elementary school teacher and Jessica Carpentier 31 an oral surgery assistant tackled the grueling rounds side by side.

Mariposa board seeks delay on budget with tax hike
The Mariposa East Public Improvement District Board sent a budget to the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration proposing a ten fold property tax increase while asking for more time to find another solution. Acting City Manager James Rabin stated the board remains in negotiations with the developer and major bondholders over infrastructure funding for the Mariposa neighborhood. In June, High Desert Investment Corporation, linked to Albuquerque Academy, said it had not sold the property.

Firehouse Subs grant funds forcible entry training door
Rio Rancho Fire Rescue received an about $8,000 grant to acquire a portable forcible entry training door. Capt. Ryan Floersheim says the device should cut response times by up to half, aiding 100 firefighters in practicing through locked doors with less damage. The door, developed for varied door types, was funded by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with support from Albuquerque franchise owner Lucas Conner.
