Cibola High honors seven top students by Kiwanis club
Seven outstanding Cibola High School students were named by the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Albuquerque. The honorees include Jeffrey Thacher top male scholar with a 4.4 GPA, Courtney Oakes a 4.22 GPA, Steve Yarbrough with 4.16, Valerie Metzgar an all round athlete with 3.2, Amber Schieldge the 1986 Fine Arts selection, Jay Levine future UNM journalism student, and Geri Oles All Around Student with 4.0. Each excels in academics and activities, with goals spanning college, law, sports, and teaching.

ENMU cheer squad selects Cibola senior Karen Gonzales
Karen Marie Gonzales, a Cibola High School senior, earned one of six varsity cheer positions at Eastern New Mexico University on April 19. She served as Student Senate officer, gymnast, Girls State participant, National French Honor Society member, and volunteer at Heights General Hospital and Hands Across America.

New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation launches three year education improvement project
John Merret and Ida Fernandez announce Enhancing Academic Excellence in New Mexico to raise college readiness and increase minority access. The plan includes free PSAT/NMSQT testing for sophomores and juniors, expanded AP courses, teacher stipends, and workshops, with goals to extend beyond Albuquerque and help more students statewide.
