Rio Rancho proposes meager 1999 city budget
Rio Rancho City Council faces a 1999 budget totaling 22.2 million in revenues and 21.6 million in expenditures, up from this year. City administrator James Lewis calls it status quo with few new hires and many unfunded requests as property and gross receipts taxes rise modestly. Mayor John Jennings labels the plan fantastic but worries about funding for a comprehensive city plan. Budget hearings begin this week with department reviews and a June 5 state submission deadline.
