Rio Rancho board weighs staffing to boost student performance
The Rio Rancho Public Schools Board debated using part of its 5 million unrestricted cash to fund about 1.135 million in staffing for middle and high schools and elementary sites, plus 4.5 special education teacher FTEs and 2 educational assistants. Also approved were 378000 for Core Standards, 55000 for Algebra, 100000 for summer school, 85000 for supplies, and 168411 for testing mandates. Members heard reports from the Fine Arts director and noted student projects at Maggie Cordova and Lincoln, plus national shoe contest entries and a Kasey Says tribute.
