DPS' Shaw retires after 20 years in Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho marks two decades of service as DPS Deputy Chief Steve Shaw retires. Colleagues praise his community devotion while humor recalls the era of Challenger and Top Gun. Shaw plans to stay active, finish DPS projects, and may seek city board roles or council.

Street Beat Signals Install on Unser and Cabezon

Phase 1 of a traffic signal installation runs April 24 through May 22 at Unser and Cabezon. One outer lane will be open in each direction with a 35 mph work zone and doubled fines for speeding. Wal Mart signals on Southern and Zaragosa Unser are now in normal operation with minor timing adjustments possible. The Santiago Subdivision signal between Idalia and Enchanted Hills will flash tomorrow with NM 528 flashing yellow and side streets Santiago and Calle Bank flashing red. NM 528 does not stop. Normal operations return the following Monday.
