Area Swim Pass Program Expands In 1998 Season
The Ditch and Water Safety Task Force expands its Swim Pass Program to distribute 100,000 free swim passes to area children this summer. Passes allow one free admission at City of Albuquerque, City of Rio Rancho or Bernalillo County pools to keep kids away from dangerous ditch and arroyo systems. Bernalillo County sheriff deputies and local officials will distribute passes in spring and summer, focusing on high risk, low income areas. Thanks to county funding, more than triple the passes will be issued for 1998, says task force coordinator Joan Bosley-Griffin. Pools extend pass validity from April 1 to Oct. 31.
