Grand Treasurer Carter responds to an official critic after consulting the head of the department about where to place state depository funds. The controversy centers on selection criteria and transparency in the process. In a separate case, a man was sentenced to fifteen years for the murder of his wife, a crime committed in the southern region.
Willie Edward Booker, 25, allegedly stabbed his stepfather William Booker with a carving knife during a May Saturday incident at 1910 Bainbridge Street. An inquest at the sauce Court with Coroner Broadnax and Judge H A. Maarco heard four deep wounds, including near the collarbone and ribs. The coroner's jury adjourned to May 25. funeral director Cunniagh is handling the remains. Rosa Booker and Mary Pie testified to a family dispute preceding the attack.
