Christmas church doings span towns in West Virginia

Reports from White Sulphur Springs Lewisburg and Keyser describe Christmas services and generous giving. Rev. R L Telford from Richmond preached in Greenbrier County. Reverend Hudson Accepts Lexington Presbytery Superintendency

Reverend William KE Hudson, recently superintendent of mountain work for the General Assembly's Committee of Home Missions, has accepted the superintendency of Home Missions and Sabbath school extension in Lexington Presbytery and will begin work in Staunton on January 1. Hon. W. Calvin Wells, prominent Jackson Mississippi citizen, died at his home December 15. He was a leading figure in his city.

Lawyer and cleric Wells noted as church leader

The lawyer of the State was zealous for religion and served as a ruling elder in the First Presbyterian church where Dr. J B Hutton was pastor. He fathered Rev Dr J M Wells, pastor of the First church in Wilmington North Carolina.

Dormitories Furnished for Highland Mission Girls

Thanks to nationwide gifts, three new dormitories at Stuart Robinson College Beechwood Seminary and Highland College provide housing for about 150 Highland girls. The year brought generous donations totaling 14022.16 dollars from supporters in the United States Canada and beyond aiding Mountain Department missions and local schools. Dr Pennel shifts to the Orphans Home Hospital role as Dr Bach departs, with renewed hope for Christian education and mission work in Wilmore Kentucky.

Virginia Synod Home Missions Christmas Cheer Success

The Virginia Synod reports a successful Christmas Cheer drive lifting funds for home missionaries. By December 24, advanced checks reached missionaries and receipts followed by December 31. January prayers for renewed support urge churches to remit promptly to cover January salaries.

The Rev George S Webster D D former pastor of the Church of the Covenant New York City has been chosen secretary of the American Seamen's Friend Society succeeding Rev George McPherson Hunter who resigned Webster is active in religious and social welfare work and has supported the society's efforts among seamen for years The society is the oldest non sectarian sailors aid group in the United States.
