Church members across several churches express gladness at having a minister back in charge. They respond with gratitude and renewed vigor to his leadership following the resumed duties.
West Lexington Presbytery held a Day of Conference and Prayer at Pisgah church in Woodford County on November 9 1915 led by T B Talbot with Rev William Cumming and other ministers. The event followed a helpful revival with Dr T M Hawes and strong cooperation from sister churches. Lunch was served at noon by Bloomfield Church. attendees praised the evangelistic spirit and church outreach.
News notes from Abbeville Morgan City Crowley and New Orleans recount a busy period with Rest Awhile hosting 412 guests for two week stays, a French service and wedding in Abbeville, a successful operetta fundraiser in Morgan City, and a Sunday school institute in Crowley led by Rev Martindale.
Ministers of other denominations preached for us and a large union choir led by Mrs. Carrol M. Allen enhanced a meeting. Nine joined Bloomfield church and four joined Big Spring. more are expected to attach to sister churches. Dr. Hawes to assist Big Spring next summer. Synodical and Sunday-school programs announced with multiple speakers and aims. Clinton sees Rev. A.R. Currie driving church growth at Silliman Institute and Every Member Canvass. W. A. Zeigler returns for fruitful meetings. two new members baptized. Missouri Home Missions fund remittances urged. calendar-year obligations stressed for all treasurers.
In Ellisville Mississippi Rev E B Witherspoon hosts missionaries Rev and Mrs J S Nisbet who lectured to Presbyterians and addressed town ladies. Their Korean mission work impressed the church and encouraged broader foreign mission efforts among readers.
The Rev. John E. Abbott of El Paso Texas has accepted the Synod Home Missions Committee call and will begin evangelistic work in the new year. His first meeting likely with Dr. Dobyna at St Joseph. Pastors seeking services of Mr Thomas Dr Gordon or Mr Abbott should contact Rev Trigg
Magnetic City hosts Rally Day with speeches and songs by children. The Mission day school, begun in August, reports 50 to 60 enrolled, averaging over 35. many travel two miles. The group emphasizes singing and catechism, requests Testaments, and plans a Thanksgiving program. A teachers’ cottage is under construction and music is valued, with organ playing common though pianos are scarce.
