John Sharp Williams and Henry A Johnson headlined a large Richmond Coliseum gathering that treated the Democratic show of strength as a rebuke to Republican rivals. Williams defended Roosevelt era policies while Johnson assailed Watson and praised Bryan era aims, drawing loud, sustained applause throughout.
Morning and afternoon sessions held at the Wayne County High School auditorium with music by Richmond High School Orchestra. Lectures by President W. W. Parsons on human organism and a talk on a Great Palatin. Evening meeting of the Wayne County Schoolsmasters' Club at Westcoté Hotel.
Richmond joins the International Chautauqua Alliance today as the gua rantors canvass begins led by Secretary E K Shera. Forty guarantors at 25 dollars each are sought to fund a stronger future with online talent and reduced costs. Governor Johnson and Booker T Washington were considered for next year while options on famed figures were noted.
William J. Bryan, Democratic presidential nominee, arrived from Omaha and spoke to a large Auditorium gathering and an overflow meeting in Denver Colorado. A Barr reception committee led by John W. Osborne accompanied him, with a city parade passing key points as Bryan urged support and commented on the Democratic fund contributions capping a new era in U S politics.

Police search for Harry Covery after he gained the girl’s confidence in Cumberland Indiana, ran away with her property, and pawned a $50 ring for $10. He fled town on a traction car, eluding authorities.
Assessments on waivered improvements are due Monday November 2 and many have already paid this year amount. Payments go to City Treasurer Johnson instead of County Treasurer Myrick at the courthouse. The case involves taxes and waivers.
A roast beef supper will be held at Second Presbyterian Church next Wednesday evening. Everyone is invited to attend for a shared meal and community fellowship.

Harry Lewis, a 17 year old boy tramp, was arrested yesterday for hopping a Pennsylvania freight train in West Richmond. He carried a lamp attached to his hat, like miners use, to read dime novels after nightfall. The literature was taken from him and he was sent on his way.
The Board of Works purchased a new gray horse from Harmon Shafer to match the new horse for the No. 2 chemical wagon and replace the older animal. The horse stands 16 1-2 hands high, weighs about 1,500 pounds, and is traded with a monetary consideration to Mr Shoffer for the old horse.
Police complain about E M Campfield delaying rubbish removal from the Colonial building and piling debris on the street. Officials may take action, displeasing the refuse owner as the mess occupies half the street and causes disturbance.
The Board of Works voted to vacate the alley running one half square south of B Street between Eighth and Ninth, upon petition by the city school, as no property owners remain on either side.
Rev Dinwiddie national superintendent of the Anti Saloon League will address an evening meeting next Thursday at the First M E church. He is a familiar figure in this community and has previously spoken at St Pauls Lutheran church.
In Darke county Ohio the day after the election the county voted for prohibition by a margin of 208 votes. This reflects a wave of dry victories across many counties in the past month.
Judge Fox of the circuit court dismissed Stephen O. Thomas v Lemuel O. Anderson seeking to recover property sold to New Garden township for school use. The school site was vacated last year due to too few pupils and the deed of sale could not sustain the recovery.
Judge Fox appoints Leroy Mansfield administrator of John Mansfield estate and directs private or public sale. Property spans several acres along Smyrna road east of the city valued at 1666.67 by appraisers Samuel Gaar and William B Dye.
The county clerk, Penny, states no advisory boards county councilmen justices of the peace or constables are to be elected this fall. Saturday is the last day to file petitions for the coming election. The law now separates trustee and advisory board elections to avoid simultaneous entry into office.
Rival champions Busch and the Turk are scheduled to wrestle next Thursday at the Coliseum in a light heavyweight Greco-Roman match. The two-out-of-three-falls bout has no time limit and will decide the Greco-Roman championship of America.
