Earlham College defeats DePauw University 7 to 6 in a tense Indiana college baseball game. Pitcher White of Earlham allowed three hits. Chambers stood out in the field and at bat as Earlham clinched the secondary title with late game pressure and multiple errors by both teams.
Henry Burns receiver for Richmond City Mill Work transfers property formed by the mill works to Granite Improvement Co of Pittsburg per deed. The deed relates to assets formerly under the Richmond Mill Works.

A partial settlement has been filed by the administrator of the estate of Sarah A. Fisher. Judge Fox approved the settlement. The event followed an address by Prof. Frank Midney of Dayton on The Inevitability of Socialism. He argued modern machinery creates unemployment and fuels socialist growth, noting socialism now claims about nine million adherents globally.
John McCarty, after a night in a box car of the C. C. L. Waes due to bad luck and lack of funds, was arrested at 3:30 a m Thursday morning. He appeared before Chief Bailey, gave a straightforward account, was released, and returned to work at the Gas Company. He said he could not afford a coin and used the box car as a last resort.
Miss Anna Burgess has resigned after thirteen years of teaching in Hagerstown public schools and will move to Knightstown.
Farmers' Institute at Greensfork hopes Prof. Christie of Purdue will organize a corn school before fall. He was asked last February to set up the program, but no word has come. If available, Christie will cover crop care harvest and seed selection, bringing modern methods to local farmers.
Hipskind & Son announce start of the Southwest Second Street sewer project. It will be arduous and run to end of next January. The North West Second Street sewer work continues with arrest of Lars Breese on suspicion of related copper wire theft. Breese and John Gehring allegedly cut and tried to sell stolen wire to a Dayton dealer.
Centerville Indiana May 23 The funeral of Mrs Jennie Savage occurred Thursday afternoon at four o clock. Services were at the family residence on Walnut street with Rev Aaron Napier of the Friends Church officiating. A large crowd attended to pay respects to the deceased and bereaved family. Relatives and friends traveled from Terry South Dakota Ada Oklahoma Covington Munice Jackson Center New Madison Richmond Denver Muncie Greensfork Whitewater Whitewater Fountain City and more.
Garfield students will compete in the annual contest Saturday afternoon with plans to engage evangelists worldwide within the next year. The meeting notes sessions aim to spread activity across all regions as results are reported.
The Garfield school meet in Kansas City on May 23 saw seven A teams fare best while expenses are to be borne largely by laymen. An accident marred the event when Ray Steinbrink fell in the pole vault. he was treated and sent home. Proceeds from stands and programs totaled about $26, benefiting Garfield school.
Riipley Ohio May 23 Thirty five night riders attacked Walker Hooks Independent farm at Red Oak five miles north of Ripley at 3 o clock. Hook fired a shotgun to scare them away as a volley shattered windows and wounded no one. The riders scraped tobacco beds and fled. Hook walked to a neighbor and telephoned Marabal Miller in Ripley with Capt Knauas Troop B Ohio National Guard.
The body of Oliver Miller arrived yesterday and was taken to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Y Miller at 221 South West Third Street. The funeral is set for 2 30 this afternoon at Second English Lutheran church with burial in Barlham cemetery. Friends may call at the family home this morning from 7 to 5.

Will Dill won the Country club golf match in a 64 hole bogey contest completed yesterday afternoon. The three day event spanned eighteen holes per day on Thursday Saturday and Sunday. Dill finished 12 down on bogey to hold the local championship.
