Cambridge City May 4. B. Wills proprietor of the Peoples drug store is again sought by authorities with unknown whereabouts. He is charged with selling whiskey last Sunday to two men who became intoxicated and later identified where the liquor came from after being jailed. ICOST OF LICENSES 18 VERY LARGELY REDUCED: Dealers in Oil Fish and Fruits May Carry Without License. City council unanimously amended the peddlers and hawkers ordinance cutting licenses to 10 per month or 14 per year.
The North portion of the Third Ward will stay dry after the city council approved a petition signed by 211 voters in that neighborhood. The ministerial vote, with Mr. Ogborn dissenting, prevents Schell and Lennard from remaining in business if the petition had failed. The ward has 401 voters: 82 neutral, 198 dry, 211 wet.
Elections set for May 14 in Decatur and Washington townships and Berne and Monroe townships Adams county to vote on subsidies of 5000 and 3000 dollars to aid extending the Ft Wayne and Springfield traction line from Decatur to Berne with plans to reach Richmond next summer. The company aims to finance the extension and expects plans ready soon. Local sentiment in Adams county favors the subsidy, seen as modest and likely to pass by a large majority.
The fifteenth annual Richmond Commercial Club banquet occurs this evening at the Masonic Temple fourth floor. Oran Perry of Richmond sues Terre Haute Indianapolis Eastern Traction Co. in Indianapolis for 200 dollars claiming a dress coat and his wife's clothing were lost from a checked suitcase on a Feb 24 interurban trip from Richmond to Indianapolis. The suit seeks compensation for the value of the items.
The Reflector, Richmond High School’s student publication, sold about 6000 copies with no ads. Proceeds funded seven new instruments for the school orchestra. Prof. Barbart, supervisor of music, says the Richmond high school orchestra stands unmatched in the state among similar groups.
Centerville residents held a general meeting to organize the homecoming tied to old settlers day on the third Saturday in August. City fire protection was the focus at a Commercial Club board meeting. Directors referred the matter to the Public Service and Corporation Committee, which will report at the June club gathering.
Dr and Mrs T M Guild started lease on a room in the Vaughan building at East and Malin streets in Baltimore. The Second National Bank secured the space for the conference room of the Methodist church through George Guild. The general conference will run for five years with Dr and Mrs Pettwell Panes named as delegates and sub rent arrangements noted.
The Gentry show faced weather difficulties and did not succeed in closing its event. Public school schedules remain as usual with students to finish before the summer vacation. Crowds gathered for the parade as planned.
The Glidden trophy tour of 1808 will start from Buffalo on July 9 and end at Saratoga Springs around July 24. It will pass through Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. The event is an out and out contest with official observers required on each car and time allowance for tire trouble.

A new two man bowling league is organized in City Bowling alley. It features ten teams with a 27 game schedule beginning tonight at 7 30. The top average across three games wins prizes of two umbrellas. Broomball land Meag faces Borton and Beck in the opening game followed by a Harold aes ae match.
W. J. Bryan, absorbed in farm work on May 4 in Lincoln, forgot to appear as speaker for the Nebraska Traveling Men's Club. Club members notified him by phone. Bryan apologized and pledged to ensure a reputable speaker attends each future meeting.
Fort Wayne officials consider strengthening fire safety rules for buildings including hotels and business structures. The council unanimously referred the matter to the ordinance committee to review wiring, cellar and building inspections, and to draft a new ordinance for stricter enforcement. Council members cited the New Avenue and Vaughan buildings as fire risks and urged mandatory inspections and repairs.

Sergeant Scott Winters attended the funeral of Sydney Nolan of Bradford Ohio who died in Cambridge City Saturday.
