A rider escaped a carriage runaway and was resting comfortably last evening with no internal injuries reported. Details are sparse but the incident involved Bea Cave and an unattended fire hazard near the Hen location.
W J Bryan arrives for a brief visit to his birthplace greeted by a large crowd. A parade, reception, and breakfast at relatives follow before he speaks from courthouse steps and departs for Topeka. Theodore Bell accompanies him and political talks are limited.
The Taft party, led by Judge W H Taft, will depart Hot Springs in a special car attached to the regular train at 6 30 pm Friday. Stopovers include Gauley Athens Columbus and Toledo with a fishing week at Middle Bass island and a Grand Army reunion in Toledo planned for September 2. A Vorys will join at Athens. political conferences may occur en route.
The West Virginia political dispute reaches the Republican National Committee with a subcommittee audit led by William L. Ward Charles T. Brooker and T. Coleman Dupont to determine which faction supporting Scherr or Swisher is regular The committee may back funds speakers and literature to the recognized side Leaders from both factions plan to travel to New York to present their cases and Taft will be briefed on the matter.
At the Jefferson Club meeting in Democratic headquarters the temporary chairman of the Federation of Democratic Clubs sent word for local club representation. Keatawal Reid and Walterman were chosen to attend the Indianapolis organization on September 9, while speakers urged a national Democratic sweep this year. Reid will form a supervising committee and club members were urged to attend a thirty cent club meeting. The Jefferson Club grew by ten, totaling about 156 members.
Albert Eadler of Earlham Heights was knocked unconscious yesterday afternoon after a carpenter dropped a board from a Shidler wholesale house on Ft. Wayne Avenue. He remained unconscious for minutes but sustained no serious injuries. The worker was on the lower floor during improvements when the board was sawn and dropped. The incident was considered fortunate as a direct hit to the head could have been fatal.
Seventeen Italians arrested Thursday at Williamsburg were paid yesterday by Antonio and Michael Carrago and then told by county authorities to leave the country. They departed for parts unknown with some heading north and others south toward Chicago.
Mrs. H. W. Chrow of North Fourteenth Street sustained several injuries in an incident with no internal damage reported. Authorities provided medical checks and updated her condition later.
The county central committee headquarters at Colonial Building hosts the formation of a thirty cent club of the Democratic party. Its aim is to raise campaign funds and monitor party outlook locally. Four seventeen year old girls Elizabeth Foster Ethel Goodwin Daisy Goodwin and Nettie Dinger were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Mashmeyer for intoxication and associating with immoral characters. Affidavits request they be sent to the Woman's prison Indianapolis. Daisy Goodwin has prior trouble with local authorities.

About 16 complaints were made yesterday by colored boarding house keepers to the police, alleging they were beaten out of board bills by striking colored laborers employed by the Terre Haute Indianapolis and Eastern Traction company repairing Main street. They were told to visit the superintendent to learn where to receive payment. The fifteen men were Indianapolis negroes who quit after being ordered to mix and wheel concrete.
The burial of Mrs Linnie Butt will take place Friday afternoon. The vault at Darlham cemetery will be left at 2 o'clock. The remains will be taken to Crown Hill cemetery in Centerville for short services.
