Death of Zulime Carriere Gardette a New Orleans tale

In New Orleans on the 18th died Madam Zulime Carriere Gardette mother of Dr. Gardette and Mrs. Myra Gaines at 78. Her life inspired the Gaines bigamy lawsuit about Daniel Clark and Jerome De Grange. Born in Biloxi to Provencal and Gypsy ancestry, she endured scandals, a secret marriage to Clark, and a long legal fight for Clark’s estate. She died peacefully in her son’s home, leaving a legacy of resilience amid adversity.
