A Case of Apparent Apoplexy and a Doctor's Unlikely Cure
A physician recalls attending a stately man found insensible on the floor with a purple face. Despite doubts of apoplexy, eight ounces of blood were drawn. Friends urged drastic measures but the physician delayed until Dr S arrived. A blistering head treatment was applied. the patient awoke two hours later and recovered fully, later lamenting the treatment as excessive while friends kept the true cause secret.
