The Cuban Question in the Richmond Mail 1854
The Richmond Mail argues the Pierce administration relies on acquiring Cuba by force or negotiation to revive its fortunes. It questions a war for conquest, calls for restraint, and warns against violating Spain's rights and undermining republican dignity. The piece likens current policy to a desperate bid for political survival.

The Fairy Light Guard will be met at the Jersey City Ferry and escorted to the Park for drills, then to the Astor House for dinner, the American Museum, and the Crystal Palace before homeward travel.
