London reports German delegates offered reparation terms near thirty billion gold marks or about seven and a half billion dollars. Prime Minister Lloyd George told the Germans they showed a total lack of comprehension and promised to discuss a reply to be delivered tomorrow.
Notorious parolee Wesley Robinson, 20, faced Deputy Sheriff John Smith amid a Hazard crowd. Smith, 22, was wounded but expected to survive after bullets from Robinson ended in his death. Robinson, paroled twice for homicide, fired from a restaurant where he flaunted a gun before the clash.
Hopkinsville March viewing a stream of men and women leaving the Universalist church parsonage led by Rev Thomas Chapman. Chief Roper stopped a Sunday School superintendent to inspect a receptacle contents, but the jars held only cane syrup from South Georgia.
Captain John Graham Johns 82 prominent Winchester resident died suddenly of heart disease Monday while in his room. A Floyd County native he was twice married and survived by three children from his first marriage, his second wife, and their two sons Captain Lindsay Johns recently with the U S Army and Graham Johns in Phoenix. Mrs Johns was in Arizona with their son when he died. funeral plans await her arrival in Winchester.
Louisville March 1 Mrs Lily Pyles McCarty 65 wife of James Wilder McCarty state regent of Kentucky for the Daughters of the American Revolution died at her residence on Sherwood avenue after several months illness.
In a standout game last Friday, Madison boys blanked Winchester 21 to 4, a major upset against a strong opponent. The Madison girls, challenged by size, held Winchester to a 5 to 4 win, showing improvement and setting hope for the tournament at Winchester this weekend.

EF Thompson 56 prominent oil lease promoter was found on the Beattyville river bank Sunday morning. The body was mud covered and believed to have been in the river for several days after delirium led him to wander to the water. His widow and two sons survive. Burial set for Tuesday in Newcastle Indiana.
In Stanford Kentucky a breach of promise suit awarded Mrs. Thomas Harding, formerly Hettie Rice of Moreland, $10,000 against Linsay Coffman. Rice had sued claiming he promised to marry her and later wed another. Letters alleged to be from Coffman were introduced at trial.
Mrs. Ellen Hensley and Mrs. Robert Wall celebrated birthdays Saturday February 26 at Mrs. Hensley home. Attendees included Vernon Hensley and family, Wall and Wall relatives, Hallie Wall Ellen Hensley Ella Mae Wall Bettie Hensley Lucy Hensley Daisy Wall Mae Hensley and McCollum family members. Music and horseback riding provided entertainment despite mud and sickness keeping others away.

Experiments by the State College of Agriculture across six Kentucky fields found soil fertility can be raised significantly with manure lime and phosphate plus a four year crop rotation. Lime phosphate and rock phosphate boosted per acre crop values with manure adding about four dollars per ton. Fields include Berea Lone Oak Mayfield Russellville Greenville and Fariston.

Fifteen freight cars left the rails and piled into a ditch between Rowland and Maywood near Stanford Kentucky at 3 38 this afternoon on L and N train No 56 en route from Lebanon to Corbin. No injuries reported.

Mrs Elizabeth Jones dies at the home of her daughter Mrs Sallie Pearson at College Hill after a long life of age-related infirmities. She recently passed her 93rd anniversary and leaves two surviving daughters Mrs Pearson and Mrs T J Jones. Funeral services will be at the Baptist church in Union City Wednesday at 11 AM with interment in the family burial ground.
