A Railroad Hero Receives Taft Prize in 1920
Louisville engineer John Cravens of the C and O railroad won the William Howard Taft prize of 75 dollars from the American Red Cross for a 1920 act. He halted a train at Duckers Kentucky eight miles east of Frankfort and with crew rescued a boy who had fallen through ice, pulling him to safety.
