Treasury partial payment plan for savings certificates adopted
The Treasury Department authorizes the Savings Division of the Eighth District to sell Treasury Savings Certificates of $100 and $1000 on a partial payment plan. Banks handle purchases, with payments as low as $2, $4, or $8 weekly, semi monthly, or monthly. If payments stop, banks may refund or accept savings or thrift stamps. Certificates mature in five years with 4.23 percent yield, registered to the purchaser and tax exempt. Final prices for $100 certificates vary by month, and 1920 payments may extend into 1921 by approval.
