Sheriff and deputy search for Claude Spurlock after he allegedly shot Finis Levett to death in Bobtown area Saturday night. Witnesses say Levett, drunk and boasting, attacked Spurlock prompting the 44 caliber pistol shot. Spurlock fled on a mule. police report he headed toward Clay County. Levett is about 35 years old.

Track torn up by broken car wheel near Paris
A mile of L and N main line north of Paris was damaged when a wheel on a tank car on freight number 91 broke Friday. The tank car carrying crude oil uncoupled and plunged down a 20 foot embankment but no injuries or oil loss occurred. Cross ties and a bridge over Houston creek were damaged as the train, moving about 40 mph, derailed. Crews were ordered to repair the track.

Two Prisoners Escape From County Jail
