GRE Test Dates Announced for 1949 50 Nationwide Schedule
Tests of the Graduate Record Examination will be administered at centers across the country four times in the coming year. Educational Testing Service notes about 13 000 students took GRE last year and lists the four 1950 dates October 27 28 February 2 3 May 4 5 August 3 4.

The first monthly grades are due in Miss Mongell's office on Saturday October 14. Subsequent grades are due November 1 and December 19. Exam times are listed by class meeting days to avoid exam piling.
Interfraternity Council cancels joint dance date
At a special meeting on September 25 the Interfraternity Council decided not to hold a Thanksgiving dance with Washington and Lee University and University of Richmond alumni. The plan would have shared sponsorship and funding, but many Richmond students will be away. A later Homecoming date may be chosen.

Westhampton AA Plans Bosher's Dam Outing
Westhampton Athletic Association sponsors the Bosher's Dam outing on Tuesday October 3. Hikers depart the barrier at 4 50 and 4 45 p.m. for the James River site, followed by a hot dog supper and a song fest by the fire. The event costs fifty cents per student. Association board members will contact dorm residents and town students.

Spider Handbook Sales Proceed at College Shop
For a second year the Spider Handbook remains self supporting with over 275 copies sold to freshmen and transfer students. Rat caps and badges also sold from the College Shop counter this week and will continue for two more weeks. After Monday handbooks drop to upperclassmen at 50 cents. Rat caps and buttons sales will end and freshmen lacking gear face Rat Council explanations and action.

Senior to Compete For Tobacco Queen
Vivacious Jane Lawson of South Boston has been chosen Miss University of Richmond and will compete in the final Miss Richmond judging on October 2. If selected she will join 20 other princesses from five southern states for the Queen of Tobacco title. Lawson is a senior sociology major, five feet four, 120 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes. She was nominated by the Odd classes at Westhampton, with editors selecting the winner. The other contestants were Charlotte Houchins Charlotte Babb and Sue Peters. Lawson is active in extra curriculars, Homecoming Princess, Miss Virginia participant for a Christmas Festival in Birmingham, Alabama, and member of Nostrae Filiae and WC Fellowship. She is not yet engaged and is excited about the prospect. The Tobacco Bowl festival will feature her continued participation.
