Rushing Begins Tomorrow for Eleven Flats

Eleven Richmond College fraternities prepare for the 1933 rushing season opening tomorrow night at 8 PM and running to midnight Monday. Interfraternity rules govern bid dates and the new three card date system tracks every potential pledge. A banquet is planned for bids accepted Tuesday night.

Band Men Will Get New Uniforms Soon

The Spider Band seeks new material to augment remaining members to boost spirit for the football section. New uniforms will be purchased in time for the VP. T. game, with a parade planned. Last year keys were awarded to deserving band members and this practice will continue.

One-Act Plays to Be Presented October 20

University Players meet in Westhampton Drawing Room for first session of the year. Margaret Proctor leads a large group planning the 1933 34 program with enthusiasm for tentative plans.

Opening Playhouse season to feature short one acts

Y W magnifies the dramatic season with three one act plays slated for October 20 opening. Jaquelin Johnston leads the play reading committee in selecting works while longer pieces are planned for December. Emily Brown’s absence as coach is felt as rehearsals begin with new student talent across acting, lighting and design. A Marriage Has Been Arranged is also slated for Millhiser Gym during the Virginia Intercollegiate Press Association weekend.

Arthur Henderson Opens University Week Lecture Series

Arthur Henderson Jr a British Labour MP and author, chosen as the first speaker for University Week. He will address Nationalism or International Cooperation at Cannon Memorial Chapel on October 11 at 12 340 o clock. The event is part of the annual University Week organized by university officials.

Jones Named as Head of Freshman Class Officers

At its meeting last Monday the Class of 1937 organized for the year electing F Overton Jones president over a field of candidates. Stuart Crawford was chosen senatorial representative with multiple contenders for other posts. Duncan Hawley won vice president. Carroll Williams and Joseph Meyer tied for secretary treasurer. Francis Tyndall elected historian amid close votes.

Board to Publish The Web 1935 Next Week

At a special meeting of the Board of Publications Heverley Taylor was chosen to carry on Milton Hobson’s work for The Web. Copies are expected to reach students within ten days after delays caused by a bank failure and staff copy shortages.

Graduate Manager Miller announced ticket arrangements for the season. Westhampton students and T. C. Williams Law School students may obtain tickets at the box office with identification for fifty five cents.

University of Richmond Pi Delta Epsilon chapter plans to extend bids to eleven campus editors in Virginia where no active chapters exist. Two Virginia Intercollegiate Press Association speakers will be inducted. Initiation ceremonies set for October 26 at Bruin memorial refectory with a banquet.

Spiders Set to Host Furman in 1933 Opener at Stadium

Captain George Hope leads the Richmond squad as the University of Richmond hosts Furman University in the 1933 football season opener. Coach Frank Dobson relies on a seasoned forward wall and an adaptable backfield to challenge a strong Furman unit returning thirteen lettermen, with Ed Perlowski out and Smitty Morris at end.

Student Reception Aims to Celebrate Orientation

The Student government administrations of the two colleges host a reception tonight in Millhiser Gym at 9:00 after an 8:00 rally. The entire University is invited. Mmmy La Vier's orchestra will provide dancing music and the committee will offer other diversions for non dancers. A large crowd is expected.
