The Richmond Collegian outlines a district conference plan across Virginia’s ten congressional districts. An emerging news exchange bureau at the University will serve all preparatory schools in the conference to aid scholastic journalism statewide.
Director Gordon Thomas plans to form a male choral society to raise musical standards. The new group will stage one major concert featuring only classical selections, replacing the existing glee club lineup.

Dr Grace Landrum spoke in Chapel on Friday representing the faculty in backing Westhampton Student Government. She warned against three attitudes the faculty should avoid spankings grandmotherly and Olympian and urged living together with students in a venture toward friendship. The speech suggested Student Government could forge a utopian college life for students.
Warren Keith was elected to lead the Dramatic Club at a recent meeting. An executive committee of W. A. McNeil and W. E. Hatcher will assist, with Hillis Miller as Business Manager and Billy Southward as Stage Manager. Tryouts will be announced soon for a fall term comedy farce.
Dr Gertrude Beggs recently returned from China and resumed teaching at Westhampton College. She spoke to The Richmond Collegian about her study of English schools in China run by Presbyterian and Episcopalian boards. She found the institutions efficient and well managed for American and English children.
Eight candidates campaign for the Student Senate vacancy created by Bob Marsh not returning this fall. Election is next Tuesday October 3 from 8:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. in the Messenger room at the Student Shop. Candidates are J. P. Broaddus J. W. Handley J. W. Brockenborough W. I. Hatcher George S. Mitchell Hillis Miller T. B. Towill and J. T. Rucker. Voters must pay a 50 cent Student Government fee before voting. A new ballot will aid detection of irregularities.
University students will observe a themed reception in the Richmond College Chapel next Friday at 8 pm. Representatives will demonstrate intimate conduct for instructional purposes, while the college orchestra debuts under Dr Haney Seay. A surprise close is planned and attendees are urged to arrive on time.
The Sky Pilots of Westhamp ton College initiated sixteen new members on Tuesday September 26. After a day of obedience to rules the right hand of fellowship was given at a party Tuesday evening. New members wore bows hair breakfast with a knife and umbrella in dining room before dinner they wore evening dresses and ate with spoons. Two faculty members Dr. Gertrude H Beggs and Dr. Grace Landrum honored this year.
A squad of about twenty five men plus coach and staff left Main Street Station for Aston Pennsylvania to face Lafayette in the first game of the 1922 Spider schedule. Lafayette is undefeated and the Veteran Athletic Association champion from Philadelphia. The Hastonian coach faces line vacancies and a backfield strong with Brennan Gazella Lebecka Brunner and Chicknoski.
Westhampton Freshmen faced disappointment as the Sophomores conducted their annual Rats initiation. At 11:30 the quiet campus yard filled with a shrill whistle and loud shouts echoing through the dormitory.
