University Week Plans at Richmond College Set for Oct 24 27
The University of Richmond schedules its second University Week for October 24 to 27 with alumni and friends expected on campus. Speakers include Stewart Dick of London’s National Gallery on English Art and M Auguste V Descles of the French Ministry of Education on French Universities and Art. Dean J C Metcalf of the University of Virginia and President Francis Gaines of Wake Forest College will lecture on Literature. Continued on Page 6.

Westhampton Chatterbox Opens With Friendly Welcome
The new Westhampton Chatterbox tea room hosts a larger crowd than prior openings with a parrot motif, snow on the mountain decor, and candy displays including The Milky Way and No Whiddin's. Cakes and punch are served to faculty and students as staff plan parrot-smock uniforms and invite improvement ideas.
First Big Rally at Chapel Building Inspires Spiders
Westhampton and Richmond College students packed the Chapel building for the year’s first big rally. Cheer leader Sterling Phipps led the crowd in yells and songs as new aspirants for cheer positions showcased their talents. The Alma Mater songs lifted spirits and officials expect more rallies to be announced on bulletin boards. Come on, let's go, you Spiders.

Philologians Open Season With First Programme
The Philologian Literary Society held its first meeting of the session with a good crowd and several showing intent to join. Glee Club Recruits 16 Returning Members for Strong Year
Tryouts held last Friday at 1 30 in the Drawing Room. Freshmen and Sophomores urged to join. Sixteen old members back form a nucleus for a larger club with tours planned to surpass prior years. Mu Sigma Rho Society Opens Fall Literary Program
Dr. R. A. McDanel delivered the principal address at the Mu Sigma Rho Literary Society opening in the Administration building. He highlighted the value of literary work to students especially freshmen. President E. W. Banes greeted former members and visitors and noted college credit for completing required work. Short talks followed by Mr. Banes and others.

Junior Class Elects Senator and Plans 1928 Events
At a meeting in Room R of the Administration building Douglas Gunter was elected Senator for the coming year to fill a vacancy left by X Y Hill who did not return to college. John D Hooker, class president, urged more social events and the Junior-Senior Prom will be made more elaborate this year.

Annual Pictures At Richmond And Westhampton Colleges
Work on the 1920 Web yearbook portraits continued yesterday and will run through today and tomorrow. Ebenhack of White Studios New York City oversees a temporary studio in the Chemistry building basement and urges all seniors juniors and sophomores who have not yet sat for photos to schedule appointments within the last two days or their images will be omitted. Photographs are being taken earlier in the session this year.

Westhampton Vespers Opened by Dr. Gaines
Westhampton College held vespers last Sunday night in the Red Cross Building with Dr. R. E. Gaines delivering the address. The Richmond College Glee Club, led by Helen Bowhan, performed several selections and Dr. W. A. Harris invited university friends and students to join. The service lasted about an hour and students may bring dates.

Billikopf Mitchell Memorial Collection of 500 New Books
Friends of Dr. Jacob Billikopf donated five hundred books to the University of Richmond Library in honor of his honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Funds were raised led by Dr. David A. Brown and the library staff, including Miss Lucy Throckmorton, arranged the selections. The collection is named to honor Billikopf and Dr. C Mitchell.

University Players Plan Presentations for 1928
The University of Richmond Players held their first meeting to outline a 1928-1929 season. The program includes two sets of one act plays, two three act plays, and a commencement play, with space for a Senior play in February and a possible Loudoun County trip in November. If a Shakespeare tour occurs, the same play may be staged on campus in June as the finale.
