Spiders Aim For First Victory Over VMI in Nine Years

Richmond College faces VMI in a crucial game as Ed Merrick’s Spiders seek their first win since 1955. Keydets hold a long series edge and boast speedsters Ronnie White and Granville Amos, with quarterback Charlie Snead’s passing to Joe Hush a focal point. Tickets for the Celebrity Series go on sale again this year for ten dollars. Purchases can be made after lunch in the Blue Room or after 7 30 p.m. in Room 209 North Court.

Open House Tomorrow Sets Fraternity Rush on Richmond Row

Fraternities on Richmond's fraternity row plan open houses for new students starting tomorrow at 2 pm. The Inter Fraternity Council quotes a chance for freshmen to visit multiple chapters as the formal weeklong rush begins with parties and smokers.

Virginia students urged to file absentee ballots before October 30

Deadline nears for students to vote by absentee ballot in the November election. Applications may be made any time before Oct 30, ballots issued after Oct 1, and ballots must be opened and signed in the presence of a notary or postmaster and sent by registered mail to the registrar. Students should contact local registrars for exact rules.

Memorial Services Set To Honor Dean Keller

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 4 pm in Cannon Memorial Chapel for May Lansfield Keller Westhampton College first dean who died June 27 1964 in Richmond Born in Baltimore she studied at Goucher College and Chicago University and earned a PhD at Heidelberg University Her 32 years as dean saw Westhampton grow from 87 students to a renowned women’s college Speakers at the service will include alumnae leaders and university figures An exhibit of Keller memorabilia will be on display in Keller Hall beginning Sunday and throughout the week.

Westhampton Names Clara Keith New Dean of Students

Miss Clara Marguerrete Keith, born in Beresford South Dakota, becomes Westhampton College's dean of students. Her career spans teaching and administration across California South Dakota New York Colorado and Philadelphia with extensive work in counseling placement and higher education. She holds degrees from Northern States Teachers College Columbia University and UCLA and has earned multiple honors and memberships in education associations.

Freshman Football Bus Plans Revised for Timely Arrival

RG student government president Reggie Jones announced changes to freshman football bus plans to ensure on time arrival. Freshmen without dates go to Mill Hiser Gym by 6 45 p.m. for a 7 p.m. departure while students with dates meet on the road behind South Court and board between 7 and 7 15 p.m. Tickets not sold on the bus and must be bought in advance. date tickets available on the gym main floor. A section on the 40 yard line will be marked off for students again this week.
