Richmond College Senior Dies In Six Car Crash On Bridge
Richmond College senior Robert W. Welch 21 died from head injuries after a six car crash on the Lee Bridge last weekend. He was driving a 1969 Volkswagen that veered into the southbound lane and struck multiple vehicles at about 12:45 AM. Welch, a Dean's List student with a 3.6 average, had worked late at the State Capitol. Two other people were injured, including a taxi driver who may lose a leg. The Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity mourned his death as a quiet strong personality.
