University Mourns Ministerial Student Ben Roark
Resolutions paid tribute to Ben amin Cole Roark a 26 year old ministerial student at the University who died of heart failure while swimming in Westhampton Lake Friday afternoon. President F W Joatwright presided at the opening exercises as classes suspended Saturday for services led by Len G Broughton and Grove Avenue Baptist Church. A committee including Dr R E Loving C J Caldwell and W O Carver accompanied the body to Roark root home. Dr Loving represented Grove Avenue Church in the ceremonies. Roark disappeared while swimming toward a raft triggering an exhaustive search under Coach Hank Dobson with the lake drained after failed attempts to locate the body.

Law school opens with promising enrollment and new class system
The first assembly at T. C. Williams School of Law drew 84 students on opening day with expected total enrollment of 125 by week’s end. The new session features a dual system of class work including a forenoon division requiring three years of legal study for the LL.

Spiders Preparing For Easton Game
With sixteen letter men back and a squad of forty five, Coach Dobson trains for the September 30 meeting with Lafayette College at Easton Pa. Freshman operated on for appendicitis
C. L. Kite, a first year student, fell ill early Tuesday with acute appendicitis. He was moved to the Retreat for the Sick hospital at 4 A. M. and operated on at 6 A. M. Reports show steady improvement. He is from Stanley, Va and did prep work at Chatham.

Keith Lectures Incoming Freshmen At Chapel

Formal Opening of Ninety First Session at Richmond
The University of Richmond opened its ninety first session last Tuesday with the largest enrollment in history. Dr Rolyx Harlan head of the new sociology department gave the principal address on Urbanity as a Personal and Social Ideal. A W Patterson welcomed the student body and incoming freshmen, about two hundred. Deans reported preliminary figures: men’s enrollment 363, with 400 expected. diverse representation from Virginia counties, cities, other states, plus international attendees from China and Porto.

Ministerial Association Holds First Meeting of Year
The Ministerial Association met Tuesday night in the English Room at 8 with President C. J. Caldwell presiding. Twelve members graduated, but the group aims for major work this year and added a faculty adviser. New members were welcomed and plans set to continue mission work through the Y M C A, offering speaking training and opportunities for new men.

Bank Branch Opened For Campus Students
The Treasurer's office of the University becomes a sub-station for the Floyd Avenue Branch of American National Bank. R. M. Stone helped establish the service. An ID card from the Treasurer's office is required to deposit funds. Deposits are sent to the bank with a pass book and a check book provided.
