Donald Baxter states the Spider Handbook may offset its costs for a second year. About 450 handbooks were sold to freshmen and transfers, who must buy by Sophomore year. Price set at seventy five cents, below cost. two dollars for handbook cap and button. Staff reduced to five. Don Wilson and Hunter Spencer as editor and associate editor. Changes in Rush Rules Announced
The Interfraternity Council announced three rushing rule changes for the year. Freshmen and transfer dating begins no earlier than October 3. The dating period runs from November 19 at 6 pm to November 22 midnight. Silence Day is November 23. Pledges must hold a CD average in the prior semester to be eligible for initiation. Veterans Shrink as Richmond U’s 118th Session Opens
The University of Richmond begins its 118th session after orientation and exams. Freshmen include many veterans who will be a minority for the first time since the war, with overall enrollment forecast near 1,860, down from 2,450 last year. Nearby colleges also report declines in veteran enrollment. Randolph-Macon projects 925 total with 1 55 veterans, Hampden Sydney 410 with 70 veterans, and William and Mary about 1,900 students with 400 veterans.
