Fraternity Rush Set to Begin Later This Fall

The Interfraternity Council announces a delayed rush start to help new students adjust. Open house Sunday Sept 16 in Millhiser gym kicks off activities with 11 fraternities planning a two week plus rush, followed by a block party Oct 6 and bids after Oct 7.

University of Richmond lecture series faces setback over McCord ban

The UR Lecture Series experiences a serious setback after federal judge Sirica bars James McCord from a scheduled fall tour. Pending APB confirmation, Stewart Udall may open on September 17 or 18 in Canon Chapel with Dick Gregory planned for December 6.

Noted Friend of University Dies at 81

Julian Vaughan Gary, longtime Virginia public servant and University of Richmond ally, dies at age 81. He served 8 years in the Virginia General Assembly and held a U S Congressman seat for 20 years, championing the Marshall Plan and aiding Chinese refugees after World War II. He later practiced law and advised university projects and athletic councils.

University tuition hike proposed for 1973-74 session

Correction states tuition and fee increases for the 1973-74 session have not taken effect. President E Bruce Heilman, speaking at opening convocation, said a $255 rise would be needed to keep services at last year's level. Board of Trustees approval required before any change.
