William and Mary Indians claim eight victories in a football season start, defeating Roanoke 6-0 and Randolph-Macon 27-13 before beating Navy 6-0 and Guilford 47-0. They beat VPI 7-0, then Washington and Lee 7-4, and suffered a 33-0 loss to Army.
University faculty were hosted at a reception in Richmond last night with a short receiving line led by chairman Smart and Pauline Turnbull. A city violinist, Mrs. Henry Stern, performed a fine program before refreshments were served.
The colleges announce a three day Thanksgiving break on November 25 and 26 with class exercises suspended. Faculty and students may attend the Virginia State Teachers Convention in Richmond and many will go home after the game.
Westhampton College alumnae Rich Chapter hosts a dinner at 7 30 with toastmistress Miss Martha Lipscomb and toasts to the brides and new grandchildren. Guests include Mrs William Redwith and Mrs H W Decker with Dean Keller and Dr Boatwright as special speakers. A Mortar Board meeting is at 11 and an alumnae hockey match vs varsity is scheduled for Thursday at 9 40 with Miss Douglas Oliver in charge.
Alumni leaders coach and Senator Wicker head tonight's ceremony at Car Loop. The event promises an Indian trial with expected guilty verdict and a somber singing of a funeral song, symbolizing Richmond supporters awaiting tomorrow's battle outcome.
The Richmond College Club, with faculty approval, appointed Charles Troxell as their new director. Troxell, a voice teacher with UNC and Wake Forest and Randolph-Macon ties, began directing the Glee Club last Thursday and welcomed several new members to the group.
Mr. Falls, president of the Glee Club, says plans are underway for a concert before Christmas and a radio program in the near future. Mr. Troxell notes the club will meet only on Thursdays.
Westhampton College seniors host the second co ed dance of the year in the Red Cross Building from nine to twelve tonight. Elizabeth McKee oversees decorations with Ella Freeman Dolly Rotaire Jane Reynolds and Margaret Crews assisting. George Beck's Orchestra, heard on WRVA, will provide music for a large crowd anticipated to attend and celebrate Thanksgiving cheer.
Clarence Gray of Phi Gamma Delta and Stuart Cook of Sigma Phi Epsilon were appointed delegates to the National Interfraternity Conference. The event in New York runs three days from Wednesday night to Saturday. They plan to depart after the William and Mary game on Thanksgiving. Gray previously represented Richmond fraternities at the conference.
Prospective medical students planning to enter a U S or Canadian medical school next year must take the required aptitude examination on December 9 1932 in the Chemistry Lecture room here This exam is required for admission to any medical school in the Association of American Medical Colleges and will be the only exam offered this year.
Richmond aims to claim the Virginia Conference title as the 15 000 strong crowd expected at the Stadium watch the Spiders meet William and Mary in the Thanksgiving Day classic. A sequence of wins and ties has built Spider momentum and a victory would secure the conference crown.
Westhampton held its annual Thanksgiving Dinner in the College Dining Hall. Faculty administrators from the University of Richmond attended as honored guests. Toasts honored class presidents Kathryn Harris Polly Cochran Jessie Neale and Lalla Terrill. Speeches highlighted class sponsors and traditions.
