Westhampton alumnae plan Thanksgiving Homecoming events starting with a 6 PM board meeting on Wednesday November 27 featuring University president Dr George Modlin and new Westhampton deans Dr Maude Woodfin and Miss Marion Hamilton.
John Batte and Dave Daniel W were elected treasurer and senator at large in a special Richmond College Student Government election with 479 voters. Daniels, new treasurer, heads Harlequin Club and Pi Kappa Alpha, transfers from Walford College, while Batte edits the 1947 Web and belongs to Theta Chi, Glee Club.
The University of Richmond faces crowded competition in a debate event against multiple Virginia schools. Four-man teams will argue both sides with positions held by McKenzie, Sever, Greshing, Chamberlayne, and Shotzburger, under Professor Pie.
L. L. McGee's 12 piece orchestra opens Westhampton College Government Harvest Moon dance Saturday at 8 30 in Keller Hall. Decorations planned despite Richmond city ban with old fashioned buggy scarecrows and cornshocks. No smoking in gym. Reception Room use approved with refreshments under Ginna Herndon and Emiley Co chairmen. Tickets from Mildred Daffron Hughes or at the door. Chaperoned by Dr Maude Woodfin Miss Marion Hamilton Dr Suzana Lough and Miss Gloria Vicedomini. Marion Huske says plans are going smoothly for a memorable Harvest Moon.
Student leaders from the College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond met to foster goodwill between campuses and deter pre game vandalism at the annual Classic. The two presidents John E. Pomfret and George M. Modlin urged students to abandon vandalism and support a positive intercollegiate spirit.
Florence Gray daughter of State Senator and Mrs Gray was chosen as Virginia's princess by Governor Tuck. She serves as last year's freshman class president and will attend the Christmas Carnival Diamond Jubilee in Birmingham Alabama on November 26 1980 as an official guest presented at the court of King Cheer and Queen Joy.
Richmond's Spiders brace for a Thanksgiving Day clash at City Stadium against William and Mary. A win would secure an undisputed Big Six title for coach Johnny Fenlon, while a loss or tie could crown the Indians. The Indians boast deep backfield depth with players like Chet Mackiewicz and Tommy Korezowski, challenging the Spiders' defense.
The University of Richmond community will gain a campus bus terminus as the Virginia Transit Company begins a trial ninety day service replacing streetcars. The city aldermen approved the plan at the November 12 meeting, needing only the mayoral signature to start the trial.
The Baptist Student Union hosts the first all campus party at 7 30 pm in the College Government room Keller Hall. Walter Connelly says the event blends schoolhouse decor with autumn colors and offers free food. Ed Clark leads preparations with W T Lane Howie Bingham and Doris Moore assisting. The aim is campus entertainment and opportunity for students to meet.
