University energy measures limit thermostats to 68 degrees in all buildings including dorms and offices. If oil becomes unavailable the university will switch to coal. Lights must be off when not in use to cut electricity by about 20 to 26 percent, with Robins Center night lights remaining on for security and student use.
The university considers limiting night use of facilities to outside groups to save electricity. Possible drastic steps include extending the Christmas break and delaying second semester into May or June. Gas supply for the refectory may also force changes, and colder rooms could prompt revisions to visitation policies.
