Westhampton Alumnae Welcome November 9 on Campus

The Alumnae Association of Westhampton College led by Executive Secretary Mrs Booker will host about thirty alumnae workers on November 9. Activities run from 10:00 registration, talks by Dean Maude Woodfin and Dean Marian Hamilton, student speakers, a campus tour, luncheon with Dr Modlin, afternoon discussions, and a 4:00 tea with faculty and seniors at Keller Hall.

W&M and UR to Air Dual Pre game Rally

The University of Richmond and the College of William and Mary will hold a two way pre game rally on WRNL Tuesday November 26 at 9 00 p m. The Spiders with the University Band Campus Four and alumni speakers oppose a William and Mary rally broadcast from Millhiser gymnasium and the Indians campus. Students are invited to attend and hear that the Spiders mean business.

The Male Animal college comedy to open at University Playhouse

The three act comedy by Elliott Nugent and James Thurber rises November 18 at 8 30 p m at the University Playhouse for a three night stand through November 14 15 and 18 The play satirizes campus life and tackles free speech in a Midwestern university with a fought homecoming game featuring Wally Myers and an ensemble cast led by Jack Greene and Nancy Kizzia

1946 Webs to be distributed Tuesdays and Thursdays

Herman Fleming business manager of the Web announces 1946 Webs will be given out every Tuesday and Thursday in the Web office at 1 00 p m. An official representative of Merin Studios Web photographers will be in the office Monday November 11 to collect proofs and take orders for additional personal portraits. A deposit of one half accompanies each order.

YMCA Extends WSSF Drive On RC Campus

The World Student Service Fund drive on the Richmond College campus, led by the YMCA Cabinet, was extended to December 1. Lawson Pankey, YMCA president, said only 145 dollars had been raised toward a 1200 dollar goal and the extension aims to boost contributions for underprivileged students in war-torn overseas countries.

University of Richmond Canterbury Club forms on campus

The University of Richmond Canterbury Club held its first meeting in the faculty Sitting Room with Dr. Edward C. Peple presiding. Rev Reno Harp offered the invocation as the group aims to promote Christian understanding among Episcopal students and approval of a constitution is sought. Co Chairmen Reid Spencer of Norfolk and Marion Huske of Arlington, James Jeter of Richmond as secretary, over seventy members attended with about 176 Episcopal students on campus.

Interfraternity Council Sets Three Day Rush During December Weekend

The Interfraternity Council declares the second December weekend as the official rushing period. Rushing runs from midnight Sunday to 5 pm Monday with silence day on December 9. Freshmen submit bids at the Alumni Office on silence day. A three member committee (Thad Crump, Billy Gill, Theta) studies a date system and will report at a called meeting.

No Classes in Richmond College for Inauguration Day

Richmond College will suspend classes on Saturday November 16 for the inaugural exercises installing President George M Modlin. Faculty and senior class are to attend and march in the academic procession. Thanksgiving vacation begins 12 30 p m Wednesday November 27 and ends 8 30 a m Monday December 2.

Kent Kiserls Elected To Lead State BSU

Kent Kiser of the University of Richmond Lebanon Va was elected BSA President for the 1947 48 term at the State Baptist Student Union Convention hosted by First Baptist Church Bristol Va Tenn and Virginia Intermont College More than 800 students from twenty colleges attended in sessions presided by Walton Connelly with Jack Noffsinger leading locals Officers to remain in office until June 1947.

Westhampton College hosts Sadie Hawkins race and dance

Westhampton College girls stage a Dogpatch themed Sadie Hawkins night at Keller Hall. Contestants dressed as comic characters race for charity, then square dance with Pappy Yokum calling. Proceeds benefit World Student Service Fund aiming for 1600 dollars, with committee members named.

Gray Asks Juniors For Major Cards

All junior students must choose a major in their first semester. Cards for declaring majors are available at the Dean of Students office. Students then take the cards to Department Heads to plan courses for junior and senior years.
